The Athletics Track celebrated 20 years of life with an unusual athletics event. It took 20 hours to run, with about a hundred athletes representing 16 teams, from various cities, 1 who ran 9346 laps around the track and covered 3738,4kms. A different competition, where conviviality, companionship, mutual help and joy were predominant.
The kick-off was given by the Sports Councilor, Nelson Felgueiras, in a ceremony that also included Ricardo Ribas, President of the club El Comandante, co-organizer of the competition, and Amadeu Portilha, President of Tempo Livre, who had the opportunity to read a message sent by the Castro brothers, Domingos and Dionísio, absent from the country, but who made a point of addressing the participants, referring to their gratitude “for the magnificent idea of celebrating the existence of the twenty years of this excellent sports infrastructure ”, considering that having his name on the track “was, is and will forever be one of our greatest pride as athletes who are children of this land, being one of the great moments of our career”.
