ACTIVE RECREATION

The “Recreios Ativos” project consists of creating, within the school space, areas to encourage physical activity, carried out in a spontaneous and unguided manner.

This project emerged based on a joint analysis between the Tempo Livre and the Municipality of Guimarães, which allowed us to conclude that school playgrounds would not be challenging from a motor point of view, and that it would be necessary to increase appealing tools with a strong playful nature, capable of “driving” children to practice physical exercise and for the movement, meeting the needs inherent to its full and integral development.

In the 2021/2022 academic year, this project began at EB Santa Luzia, in the form of a pilot project and the results were quite encouraging.

At the moment, the project is at an advanced stage of implementation at EB do Salgueiral, EB de Mascotelos and EB de Infantas, with implementation in other schools in the municipality being studied and analyzed.
